Working in Partnerships

In 2007, we began a three-year public-private partnership program with the United States Agency for International Development, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Brazilian non-profit SEBRAE and TransFair USA to work with 10 cooperatives in Brazil – representing nearly 4,800 family farmers – to increase their capacity to provide high-quality Fair Trade Certified™ coffee and to convert more than 2,000 farmers to organic practices.

We anticipate this ambitious project will achieve:

• a 350% increase in Fair Trade Certified coffee exports from Brazil
• a 400% increase in double-certified Fair Trade Organic coffee exports from Brazil
• an additional $8 million in income to partner farms over three years.
