The new CEC school buildings will include the school’s first library, first laboratory, and double the number of students in its classrooms. The new school will be safe for students of all abilities and will include a grassy area for children to play.
The new school facilities can’t come a moment too soon, according to CEC's director Maria Aparecida Avelino. The current school is small, old, and rented. "The rooms here are very small and the structure is precarious," Avelino explains. "We need projectors, a video and TV room, a library. We need toys for the kids and a playground."
"We have no place for physical education, the kids have to cross the road to go to the municipal gym that is loaned to us. We have no balls, nets, sports equipment. These problems will be resolved when we move into the new school. There we'll have everything." |
